Company

Last week Grandma Betsy & Aunt Elizabeth came from Tennessee to visit. It was nice to catch up as we have not seen them in awhile. We had a nice relaxing visit. As we came to realize with the addition of Anderson traveling with everyone in one car becomes a problem. We went to Smicksburg and saw lots of Amish working & riding in their buggies. We also went to the zoo. Anyone that knows Syd & I knows that we LOVE the zoo. Our trip down was eventful in its self we were almost taken about by a box truck. He came so close to our car it was crazy. Steve said he almost got someone else after we got around him. It was SCARY!!
The Pittsburgh Zoo had another addition on the 13th they had their first baby seal so Syd was looking forward to seeing her. It was Steve, Anderson & Elizabeth's first trip to the zoo. I think they all enjoyed it. Anderson had a good time looking around, napping & getting all the complements from other visitors. We saw lots of babies, both elephants, orangutan, 4 beavers, and a seal. Baby seals are born not knowing how to swim,so as she kept running along the edge and fell in. Her mother actually dunked her underwater & pulled her by her flipper then flipped her out of the water it was really neat to see. Although, the baby seal was scared after that she ran to the door to go inside. We did get to see the polar bear swimming around he came up right in front of Syd. They also have a tunnel so you can see from underneath. He jumped in right over Syd's head. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I do not have any photos. Elizabeth said she would email what she took with her phone. Hopefully I will have a couple to share later.
Grandma Betsy & Elizabeth headed home early Saturday morning. Sydney had alot of fun playing with Aunt Elizabeth for all those days. We want thank them for everything.

2 Weeks Old

Well Anderson is 2 weeks old already. I cannot believe the time goes by so quick. He has been doing really well. Of course he mostly sleeps, eats & well you know does the other too.
On Monday we took him to meet the vet's office where I worked, to eat at Cici's, shopping and to Syd's baseball game. He slept the entire time. We even got him out of his car seat a couple times & strapped him back in. Hopefully, he always will travel this well.

The picture is me getting him out at the baseball game.

A little later during the game.

Run Sydney Run

Sydney had field day towards the end of school. Boy did she have a busy day! I was helping at school when they signed up for things and could not believe some of the events she volunteered for. They compete against the other two second grade classes. There is always at least 3 or 4 from each class in each event.
The day started out looking like they might get rained out but cleared up enough she came home with sunburn on the back of her legs. I was glad my very preggo self felt well enough to go & watch her compete at least for the first half of the day.
First event was the Girl's Basketball Relay which they placed 1st in.

Next was the Bowling Pin Relay. They had to carry 7 pins back & forth without dropping them. She was the only one with elastic band so they could stuff her full of pins. They place 3rd in this event.

Then off to the Long Run. As we were walking to the football field she told me she did not want to do this one. I explained that she signed up for it & needed to try her best for her class. For this event you have to run the length of the football field up &back. Yikes! I was so glad I got to see her do this one and was so proud of her because she tried so hard. Sorry the picture is not a close one but it shows you how much she won by. She's a little speedy gonzales unlike her mother.

This is the Three Legged Race. When I asked how this one went because it was in the afternoon her response was "Not so well." Which informed me not to ask any further questions. Her partner was Madison not exactly a good match for height.

This picture is of the Mixed Relay. Which has 2 boys & 2 girls running in it. They each have to run one length of the football field. On her team was Lance, Emma, & Allen. You can't really see the look of determination on her face it is too funny. She ran the 3rd leg of the race with Allen running at the end. Allen happened to win the Long run for the boys so having Syd & him on there team was a very good thing. Another 1st place!!

Her last event was the Individual Tug Of War. Why she thought this was a good idea I have no idea. She has no fat on her body at all. But bless her heart she came in 2nd place.

My friend Lorene was kind enough to take pictures for me. I don't have pics of the Long Jump which she placed 1st in. Also, there was the Wheelbarrow race. Which was another "Not so well." She had a great day! Needless to say she was exhausted for the baseball game she had later that night.

Here is a picture of her ribbons. Great job Syd! Okay I am done bragging now.

No Denying This One

A running joke with Steve & I is me referring to Sydney as his child. His response is always you can't prove it. Well with Anderson that cannot be said.
As I had posted earlier the first thing Steve said when he saw his son was "He looks just like me." We have a few baby pictures of him so we got those out to look at when we got home.

Steve at 3 days old.

Anderson couple hours old.

Steve at 4 weeks old.

Anderson at 5 days old.

Anderson is doing well. Still has his nights and days backwards but that is to be expected. Steve & I are a little tired but that also is par for the course. Steve goes back to work thursday afternoon so keep me in your thoughts.

WELCOME HOME!

Anderson Lee Fowler
On June 1, 2009 we welcomed Anderson Lee Fowler into our little family. He was born at 1:10 PM. He weighed 9lbs. 5oz. and is 21 inches long.

After having to wait a little while to go in for my c-section everything proceeded very quickly. As I was wheeled in one of the first questions I was asked is if the music bothered me. Of course I answered No! So I am laying there going under the knife listening to the music and my doctor sing along to Nickleback. My thought was I like the choice of music and if he is singing all is well. I have to say that my anesthesia nurse was awesome!! Curtis told me everything that was happening and all that I would be feeling about 15 seconds before it happened. I could of gave him a hug.
Steve was able to be in the operating room with me and watch Anderson being born. I was so grateful to see him walk in & sit with me. There is nothing like the feeling of laying there waiting for your baby to be born. It seemed like I waited for forever to hear him cry. Steve said they had a heck of a time getting him out. They even had to use suction to get his head out. I do remember my doctor saying there's one shoulder. The first thing Steve said was "Oh my god he looks like me!" My comment being isn't that a good thing. After Anderson was handed to the nurses her first comment was how big his feet were. Something that his father did not want to hear. Steve & Anderson then headed off to the nursery to get weighed & measured. The nurse thought he weighed more than he did because he was so solid. No one could believe how long his toes and fingers are. It must of been awhile since they had a nine pound baby because everyone referred to him as the big baby.
Sydney came by and visited with her Grandma on Tuesday. At first, she was a little shy. She quickly warmed up to him and asked to hold him. Then we noticed she was gently bouncing him. It was too funny. She did confess to each of us separately that she did like him. Thank goodness!!
We also had visits from Grandpa, Barb, cousin Chris & Aunt Pat. We are very thankful for everyone that came to see us. And for Mom for keeping Sydney.

Steve & I can only say good things about our experience at the hospital. Everyone was super nice & very helpful. As we head home to make new memories and have some sleepless nights. We are very excited to start this adventure as a family of four.

Headed To The Hospital

At 8:30am Steve & I will be headed to the hospital. We got lucky and the c-section was scheduled for 11:00am . At first we thought we would have to be there at 5:30am so we got lucky there. Although, I am hungry and have not been allowed to eat or drink since after midnight. Oh what I would do for a bowl of cereal YUM!
Keep us in our prayers please. I will post pictures as soon as I am able.
